These images represent preliminary sketches by Daryl Toh for my upcoming novel DARKEST HOUR. Daryl and I had some discussions about what should be on the book’s cover. These sketches (with red text and spine objects added by myself) represent basic design ideas about the characters and objects used to convey the story. The covers are not detailed and not colored–this is very important. The purpose of these sketches is to show the “flow” of objects. It’s also worth noting that these ideas show how important text–like the book’s title–appears on top of drawn objects.
Important note — All sketches are the property of Daryl Toh and MAY NOT BE COPIED, LINKED TO OR REPRODUCED WITHOUT OBTAINING HIS PERMISSION. There. Enough said!
